6 ways to start loving yourself

Are you having a hard time being happy with yourself? It is so easy to focus on your faults and insecurities instead of the good qualities that you have. This can really hinder your journey of self love but now it is time to start loving yourself.

How to start loving yourself today

It is time to put yourself first for the first time in your life. I know, I know it can be scary to start to put yourself first but you NEED it! We all have one life to live, we simply can not do everything for everyone. It is our lives that means we have to put ourselves first. I know that it can be tough to be selfish and put yourself first rather than the people around you. It’s time for you to be selfish and do things for you.

Focus on yourself

This is a huge step in loving yourself. We all have one life to live and we can’t do everything for everyone. When you spend all your time doing things for others, you forget all about your passions in life. It’s time for you to enjoy your life and focus on you and what makes you happy.

Discover who you truly are

To truly love yourself is the most important skill you can ever have.This is where you need to sit and reflect on your strengths and weaknesses. This is a good start to discovering who you are. If you struggle with this you can ask your friends or family for help. Make sure that you trust them because this is to help you not hurt you.

Forget past mistakes

Have you ever laid in bed regretting all the decisions you have made or the mistakes you have made throughout the years? I do, all the time! It’s so hard not to hate yourself due to all the stupid mistakes! It’s tome for you to start to let go of these past mistakes and move on. Dwelling on the past can be really negative to your mental health. Move on from the past by simple meditation or even just talking it through with someone. We are all human. None of us is perfect and we all make mistakes throughout our lives. Start loving yourself.

Invest in yourself

When 2018 rang through I was determined to start loving myself more. At first, I had no idea how I was going to do that but a few months down the line I had decided to start a blog and pay for my own domain name and hosting. Starting my blog helped me to realise how creative I was. I love how creative I am and this is taking me one step closer to loving myself. Invest in something that you love to do or have always wanted to do! Things can include:

  • Booking a holiday
  • Getting a gym membership
  • Getting lessons to learn something new or improve the skills you already have.

Be kind to yourself

You are your worst critic. It can be difficult to compliment yourself or think of positive things or be confident but it is time for you to start being kind to yourself! Start each morning with a positive affirmation or two. At first, it will be difficult and feel really stupid saying these things to yourself but after a little while, you will see the benefits of doing this.

Figure out what makes you happy and start doing it

Having a passion of any kind is great. When I started my blog I had no clue that I would love it so much. Find something that makes you excited to get up each morning. Use your skills or start to improve the things you are weaker at.

We are human. We will never ever be perfect and that’s okay! You are perfectly imperfect and it’s time to love yourself for who you are!
