I was lucky enough to be given the opportunity to read Beyond The Red Carpetwritten by the lovely Debbra Lynn. When I got sent the PDF I wasn’t sure what to expect with this book. I am not a huge fan of reading ebooks but I was willing to give this a chance and really excited to read this wonderful authors book.
When I was given this book there was no blurb or synopsis, so I had no idea what this book was about or if I had an interest in it from the start. I was going in blind. Normally I don’t like getting into something that I have no idea about but I took a chance with this book and I was pleasantly surprised as I began reading.
As I began reading I was introduced to Sophia Donovan, she seemed to be caught between two decisions and it immediately caught my attention. I was really interested in continuing to the next page to see what was going on. I was shocked once I found out what she was sat mulling over.
This book jumps between the years of Sophie’s meeting her husband, marrying him and their marriage. At the beginning it was a little confusing between the time jumps because I was trying to figure out what was happening and why the events happened at the beginning of the book.
About the book
Sophia Donovan has it all, a successful business, an amazing handsome husband who is a big shot Hollywood director. They have been married for 11 years. Their marriage isn’t perfect but who’s is? When an old friend comes into the scene Sophia is faced with the realisation about the people she is closest too. It becomes a fight for her life rather than a fight to save her marriage.
Before I read this book I had no idea the theme of this book was about domestic abuse. I was very surprised that this is what the theme was, but I was happy to read a book that is highlighting such a series issue that I have very strong opinions on. “Beyond the Red Carpet” is very eye-opening in such a simple way. It shows that young women or men who are in madly in love can’t see abuse when it is happening. They don’t believe that it is abuse and the victims of abuse tend to believe that it’s their fault and apologise for something that they have said or done that is completely normal.
Throughout this book we meet many different characters, some are entertaining and amazing characters, others not so much. Each character in this book had their own specific role and was introduced very easily into the book. Although Sophia did get on my nerves at times because of the way she allowed her husband Marcus to treat her I had to keep reminding myself that many people in the exact same situation do the exact same thing because they are blind to what is actually happening.
I really enjoyed reading this book although it did take me forever because it was an ebook and I really don’t like reading ebooks! This is definitely a book you need read is you enjoy suspenseful books. Grab “Beyond the Red Carpet” By Debbra Lynn now.
