Aromatic essential oils have been used for thousands of years as traditional remedies to enhance health and wellbeing. The ability of fragrances to affect mood and atmosphere has long been recognised. In recent years, an increased emphasis on holistic healing has brought back the use of essential oils for health, wellness and beauty. Eucalyptus essential oil has an array of benefits that I will be discussing throughout this post.
This warming an antiseptic oil is great for relieving aches and pains as well as healing mouth ulcers, insect bites and stings. The oil tones and balances the skin and its sharp aroma helps increases concentration and lift feeling of depression.
Benefits of eucalyptus essential oil
Acts as an antiseptic
Dab some oil onto your skin to heal bacterial and fungal infections, wounds and it can also soothe bites and stings.
A facial steam with a few drops of eucalyptus helps to cleanse and tone oily or acne prone skin.
Eases aches and pains
Add the oil to a base oil of your choice or cream to warm and loosen tight muscles and joints.
Eucalyptus refreshes the mind, banishing headaches and improving concentration.
Sometimes asthma symptoms can be triggered by the presence of an infection such as a cold or flu virus. You can rub on the chest in addition to using your inhaler to help ease the symptoms or inhalation using a diffuser.
Ingredients: 4 drops of lemon essential oil, 4 drops of eucalyptus essential oil and 4 drops of peppermint essential oil.
Add a drop or two onto a ball of cotton wool and dab onto the chickenpox or blisters to help ease the pain.
Massage a drop or two onto the stomach anti-clockwise to ease intestinal discomfort
Rub two drops onto the soles of your feet to help reduce your fever
Diffusing eucalyptus can help clear congestion and soothe coughs related to a cold. Eucalyptus has a wonderful clearing properties that help to relieve blocked sinuses. Using a diffuser to disperse this essential oil in the air in an effective way to ease congestion issues
Ingredients: 4 drops of cedarwood essential oil, 4 drops of eucalyptus essential oil and 4 drops of ravensora essential oil.
Add these to your diffuser and disperse throughout your chosen room.
Headaches are one of the most common health complaints. In many cases, they can be easily treated with small and simple lifestyle changes. Tension headaches are often described as a constant ache that affects both sides of the head and these are linked to stress.
Rosemary and eucalyptus temple massage
Tension headaches caused by mental effort can be treated by rosemary. Eucalyptus is useful for soothing headaches caused by sinus congestion or allergic reactions. Here the two ar combined with lavender and peppermint.
Ingredients: almond oil, 3 drops of rosemary essential oil, 1 drop of peppermint essential oil, 1 drop of lavender essential oil and 1 drop of eucalyptus essential oil.
Mix all the oils and transfer into a roller bottle.
