For as long as I can remember I have always had high expectations for what I wanted in life. Throughout the years what I would love to achieve in the future have changed dramatically. Yours probably have too. Am I right? Wanting to achieve your future goals can be quite a struggle because life gets in the way.
Some of my future goals include:
- Becoming a speaker regarding mental health and abuse.
- Become a professional blogger.
- Work with mental health and abuse charities
- Travel the world.
How to achieve your future goals.
Create a vision board.
What is a vision board?
This is a board with a collection of images and words which represent your goals. This is to help you keep your eye on the ball. Make sure you place your vision board where you can see it each and every day to keep you inspired and remind you what you want.
To create a vision board you need to do the following steps:
Make a list of your goals.
Look for images and quotes that you love. ( Pinterest is great for those)
Print these off and design your board!
Excitement and passion.
Making a start on something new is always fun and exciting. Make sure you keep that excitement and passion up while you are working towards your goals. This excitement and passion while keep you going on the bad days.
Passion and excitement are really needed when you hit a brick wall and feel like you are stuck. If you do become stuck, take a step back, breath and take a break until you find a way to climb that wall and make it your bitch.
Many of you know that I am a huge advocate for research! How will you c=achieve your goals if you have no idea how to get there? Do you get in a car and drive even though you have no idea what you are doing? FUCK NO. You could kill someone.
Do you want to stress yourself out so much that your goal becomes a hatred? Sit down and do some real research. You will thank me later. Look online, find blog posts that can help and take notes.
Come up with a plan
Your research will come in handy with this point. Make a plan and stick to it until you plan to review your progress. Whether this goal is something you want in a month from now, six months from now or even five years from now a plan is a huge component to achieve your future goals.
To become a speaker in relation to mental health and abuse I need a plan to do this. I can’t just turn up to a school or event and just expect someone to hand me a microphone can I? Well yes, I can but that would be unrealistic and never happen.
To achieve my future goal of becoming a mental health and abuse speaker I need to reach a wide audience with my blog and Youtube channel. To do this I need to create quality content that is shareable, that connects with my audience and connects with people going through mental illness or abuse.
It will take me time but I will get there because this is of huge importance to me. I suffered for years alone and I don’t want anyone else to feel alone like I did.
Take the plan and segment it into manageable goals.
Just like I did above with my future goal of becoming a speaker in regards to mental health and abuse I broke this huge goal into smaller bite-sized goals that I can work towards. It’s stress friendly and very easy to do. So get writing that list and breaking those goals down into smaller sections.
Consistency is crucial. If you want to achieve the future goals you NEED to be consistently working to reach those small bite-size goals. I’ll use my previous example to explain this a little better.
To reach my goal of becoming a speaker in regards to mental health and abuse I need to write blog posts and make YouTube videos to reach a wider audience. I won’t be able to do this by making one blog post a year. I need to be consistently creating content.
My blogging schedule is as follows. One post every Tuesday, Friday and Sunday. But that is not me done and dusted for the week. No, no no.
That’s just content creation. I then need to use social media to promote those posts to reach an audience. I need to engage with my followers on my social media platforms, grow my email list by creating freebies, take pictures for my blog posts and social media content and so much more.
That’s just some of the things I need to do each and every day to keep my consistency to achieve my future goal of becoming a professional blogger and a speaker of mental health and abuse.
All of this will not happen right away. It will take time, trial and error, perseverance and determination. Stay strong and continue with your research and try new things and see what results you get.
This is another crucial point. How will you know if you are moving towards your goal if you have no idea how you are doing? What I would advise is that you choose one or two days each month to sit down and figure out how you are doing in regards reaching your goals.
If you aren’t doing very good, work on a new way that you can try and improve your results. Or if you are right on track to keep doing what you’re doing! This will also give you a confidence boost when you see your results improving or even give you more determination to work harder!
I really hope that this tips will help you to achieve your future goals. If you need any help or some more advice feel free to contact me on any of my social media accounts or my email firstname.lastname@example.org
