Having a bad is natural. We all can’t be happy and smiling all day every day. When we have a bad day we have to make sure you take care of yourself on a bad day. Today I have some self-care tips for you to make sure you take care of yourself on a bad day.
Self-care is important to maintain a healthy relationship with yourself as it produces positive feelings and boosts your confidence and self-esteem. Also, self-care is necessary to remind yourself and others that you and your needs are important too.
You are the only one who can take care of yourself. Before you begin to put others first and forget about your own needs it is important to remember that YOU are the most important person. You need to be able to take care of yourself before anyone else.
How to take care of yourself
Have a nap
Sleeping is a great way to boost your body and mind and put you in a better mood. Sleep plays a vital role in physical and mental health. When we are anxious or depressed it can be very difficult for us to get to sleep at night because our thoughts are running wild.
By getting enough sleep it restores your brain to make sure that it works properly. If you don’t get enough sleep it can lead to you being unfocused, confused, unable to think clearly or make decisions.
If you are struggling to sleep at night taking a nao throughout the day can be really beneficial for you. Lack of sleep doesn’t just affect you physically it also affects you mentally. You may be unable to control your emotions or behaviour.
Have a hot bath or shower
When I am in a bad mood or having a really bad day I always enjoy getting into a nice hot bubble bath. I know it’s hard when you are in a bad mood, you just want to stay inside, not washing, eating junk food, etc but I really recommend that you have a hot bath or shower.
Sinking into the hot, soapy bubbles is just what I need on a bad day. Washing my hair and body with my favourite shower gel and shampoo always feels amazing. I also love adding essential oils to my bath. My favourite would definitely have to be lavender. It has a huge range of benefits such as promoting sleep and relaxation.
Watch favourite movies or tv series
Binge watching series or movies is a great way to take your mind off everything that is going on. My favourite movie to watch when I’m in a bad mood is Saw. Strange, I know but it always makes me feel better. Saw takes everything off my mind.
Take a day off
I know it can be difficult to get a day off work or just completely do nothing for one day. I find it almost close to impossible to switch off and have a lazy day. It really does help just being unable to do nothing and relax. Its always really nice when I actually get to do it!
Talk to friends or family
Talking is extremely important when you are having a bad day. I always feel much better when I speak to Ryan about how I feel and about what’s going on in my head. Ryan is my rock and I would be so lost without him.
Find your rock and talk to them when you are struggling. Having someone here who is willing to listen and be there to support and help you truly does a world of difference.
