A multi-state manhunt is underway for a cop killer on the loose. And Dr. Tessa Thorpe, a veteran’s counselor, is caught up in the chase.

Donald Darfield, an African-American Iraqi war vet, war-time buddy of the beaten man, and one of Tessa’s patients, is holed up in a mountain cabin. Tessa, acting on instinct, sets off to find him, but the swarm of law enforcement officers gets there first, leading to Darfield’s dramatic capture.

Now, the only people separating him from the lethal needle of state justice are Tessa and ageing blind lawyer, Nathaniel Bodine. Can they untangle the web tightening around Darfield in time, when the press and the justice system are baying for revenge?

My review

Justice Gone is such a powerful, important book that I believe a lot of people need to read! It is so relevant to what’s happening in the world today.

Beginning this story we are thrown right into the action and the scene that causes the premise of this novel. A war veteran being beaten to death by police. The scenes are graphic and heart wrenching. I was enthralled with this story and needed to see how this story ended.

We follow Tessa throughout this story the war veteran counsellor who dealt with these men after coming home from war. We see her struggle trying to deal with her own past as well as try and find Donald who has run away after the death of his best friend. Tessa is trying to figure out who murdered the cops involved in the murder of her patient and set Donald free.

This story was fast paced, action packed and truly addictive that I flew through this story devouring it whenever I was free. Justice Gone has so many twists and turns and that ending! Holy shit!

Although this story is fiction it is based and been created because of real life events that are happening every single day. Justice Gone is a beautifully written, heart wrenching story that needs to be read by everyone.

We meet many characters within this story and we are left in the unknown of who actually sought revenge on the murderous police officers. Some of the characters we meet become very suspicious and sketchy that made me second guess who I believed committed this crime. I loved not knowing who did it and trying to put it all together and boy I did not guess the ending!

Final thoughts and emotions

I absolutely adored this book and couldn’t believe how Justice Gone hit so many political and social problems of today and gave it so much depth and emotion. A brilliant 5 star read that made me stop and think about the social problems that are happening in the world.
