Trust me, I have had many of those days, where I have done nothing but move from my bed to the couch. Some days would become so bad that I physically couldn’t make myself wash, brush my hair or teeth for days on end. I know it’s really gross to admit that, but it does happen! Mental illness can be paralyzing and you can physically not make yourself do anything at all. This is why these self-care hacks for your bad mental health days can come in handy.

Breathe in for 4 seconds

Hydration is really important every single day even when you aren’t having a bad mental health day but when we feel like shit we tend to forget to take care of ourselves and not eat or drink. So during those bad days it is extra important to stay hydrated.
Avoid social media
Social media has positive and negative effects and unfortunately it can have a very negative effect on you when you are already feel bad. It will do you some good to step away from social media and just focus on yourself until you feel better.
Many times I have been in such a bad way mentally but I had to leave the house, meet someone or go to work and I was not looking after myself because I physically couldn’t. So I have been using these hacks to mke myself at least somewhat presentable to be out in public.
When you need to brush your teeth a simple rinse of mouthwash can work and make sure that
you don’t have bad breath. Having a mint or a chewing gum can also come in very handy when you’re in a bad way.
Dry shampoo will be your saviour in this case, Don’t have dry shampoo? That’s okay you can use talcum powder to make your hair look fresh and non greasy!
Washing can be a huge chore so having a pack of wet wipes to wipe down your body. It is quick, handy and a lot easier than showering or bathing.
When I have a bad day I tend to eat a lot of junk food but I have been trying to get out of that habit. A way to do this is when you are feeling good save some of the food that you have been cooking for yourself and keep it there for your bad days to heat up very quickly and eat.
I know exactly what it’s like to be physically not to be able to do anything at all so it’s important that you take care of yourself in whatever way possible even if you can’t be arsed.
