Before getting into my review I just want to say that I truly admire Emilie Lucadamo for being only 18 and having written many other books along with Where The Night Reigns. What she has done is truly admirable and I am very proud to be able to read and review her book. So lets get into my Where The Night Reigns A.R.C Book Review.

Gifted | This book Where the Night Reigns was gifted to me by Netgalley and Nine Star Press in return for an honest review. All opinions are my own.
The barrier between worlds has shattered. Demons wreck havoc across Earth; the dead are rising from their graves; psychopaths witches are vanishing without a trace. The fate of the world rests in the hands of the enigmatic Tresser Corporation, a company of demon soldiers… and a kindergarten teacher. To save both worlds, they’ll have to travel into the mouth of hell itself.
First thoughts and emotions
I was really excited to dive deep into this story because orient something I normally read. There hasn’t been many books involving demons that I have read and this will also be one of the first LGBTQIA story.
This story started very quickly and I was thrown right into the plot without really knowing who these characters were. I would have preferred a longer and more detailed lead up to the plot and meet and learn about the characters more.
Without even knowing the characters it switches points of view and makes it even harder to understand the characters and get to know them.
We don’t meet many characters in the story which I found good because in some stories many characters are introduced and it can get confusing and hard to remember who is who.
I didn’t really connect with any of these characters at all in this story and I didn’t have any emotions when a certain character died in the end. I wasn’t emotionally invested in this story or the characters so there was no love loss when this character died in such a sudden moment that wasn’t really plotted very well into the story. The characters within this story are very bland and two dimensional.
Final thoughts and emotions
Although I liked reading this book after finishing it and thinking the story through I realised what problems were associated with this book. I’m disappointed as I didn’t get what I expected.
I believe that this book needs a lot more work with both the plot and character development. Having a more solid plot would gauge more interest with the audience. With more character description and development will make us emotionally connect with each character within the story.
This story does have a pretty solid foundation and I would gladly reread this story if it was edited and improved some more.
